Optimising business models in East Africa
From your morning coffee to your evening pyjamas – many everyday essentials originate from the fields of Kenya. Our team in the East African Republic is focused on inclusive business transformation to create socially and ecologically sustainable value chains.
With forest protection and rehabilitation, food system transformation and social and environmental sustainability top of our agenda, we convene multi-stakeholder platforms to find common solutions, both on landscape and sector level.
We are active in various value chains, including coffee, apparel, and aquaculture. Through our East Africa Coffee Program, we develop strategic partnerships with businesses to ensure coffee farmers in East Africa reach a living income while ensuring thriving ecosystems. Through the Initiative for Sustainable Landscapes (ISLA), we work closely with the Kenyan government and private sector partners to conserve the South Western Mau Forest.
We also contributed to the Farmfit Insights hub – through Inclusive Business Analytics as well as technical assistance, and the Farmfit Fund, aimed at reducing the risk and unlocking investments into sustainable value chains.
