Women’s Safety Accelerator Fund (WSAF)
Focusing in India, funding partners address gender-based violence in agricultural value chains, contributing to safe and empowering workplaces.
Over the last decade there has been an increase of nearly 40% in global tea production. But the sector has not seen a sufficient increase in worker wages, farmer incomes and safe and empowering workplaces.
To address these social and environmental sustainability challenges, we facilitate multi-stakeholder partnerships between tea companies, civil society organisations, and governments.
From responsible sourcing practices and environmental conservation to wages, income, welfare and accelerating women’s safety, we are striving to mitigate the many unseen costs that make up our daily cuppas.Creating positive impact for people, planet and progress
Together with our partners, we’re working to develop sustainable business models, create positive on-the-ground impact and improve sector governance in key tea-producing countries.
“WSAF is creating awareness around Gender-Based Violence through internal committees to prevent sexual harassment in the tea estates, changing people’s mindset on gender, and reinforcing the importance of safe spaces for women and girls on the estates.”
