About IDH

IDH (°2008) is an international organisation that brings together public and private stakeholders to make global agricultural markets more sustainable and more inclusive. Together with our partners, we develop solutions to critical challenges in global value chains, such as climate change, unfair working conditions and wages, unequal value distribution, and gender inequality.

We believe markets have the power to make trade more inclusive and sustainable.

But markets are driven by the pursuit of  short-term profit maximisation, often jeopardising people and planet. Conscious intervention is needed to shift the private sector’s focus toward the long term – for the public good. This requires an integrated approach that designs actions to consider their impact across multiple areas. That’s where we come in.

Through our unique approach of convening, co-creating, and co-financing we design integrated solutions that transform markets, creating better jobs, better incomes and a better environment.  We actively work with the private sector on improving their business practices, catalysing investments and landscape governance.

Improving Business Practices: We promote sustainable and inclusive business practices across value chains, ensuring that sustainability is fully integrated into companies' business strategies, rather than addressed in a fragmented way. 

Improving Sector Governance: By facilitating collaboration among governments, companies, and civil society, we create supportive policies and frameworks that drive market transformation and equitable value distribution.

Catalysing Investments: We close financing gaps for smallholders and Agri-SMEs through innovative financial models, de-risking investments, and unlocking capital for sustainable agricultural projects.

Data & Insights: Our data-driven approach generates actionable insights, enabling transparent, accountable, and informed decision-making for sustainable market transformations.

Convening & Partnerships: We bring together diverse stakeholders to co-create solutions, build trust, and drive systemic change across sectors and landscapes.

Our Code of Conduct

We stand for courage, integrity and inclusivity

Taking our three core values as its starting point, our Code of Conduct serves as a moral compass for everyone in our global organisation. It’s our roadmap outlining concrete behaviours and actions in our daily work, and it applies as much to our relationships with each other as with our partners, suppliers and donors.
