LATTE enters Climate Finance Lab to mobilise capital for coffee resilience

We are pleased to join a global community of innovators as our Latin America Climate Resilient Coffee Facility (LATTE) is selected for the 2026 cohort of the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance, led by the Climate Policy Initiative.

Chosen from more than 1,000 applications, LATTE is one of eight initiatives in this year’s cohort, each focused on scaling climate solutions through innovative financial approaches. The Lab is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading accelerators for climate and nature finance.

LATTE is designed to unlock fit-for-purpose financing for climate-resilient coffee production, with an initial pilot in Colombia. Rather than focusing on individual projects, it will build a comprehensive financial solution around the structural needs of resilient coffee landscapes.

By connecting sustainable value chain finance, climate-smart lending, technical assistance support, and payments for ecosystem services, LATTE aims to mobilise capital to where adaptation solutions are most urgently needed.

Participation in the Lab provides a valuable opportunity to further develop and test this approach. Over the coming months, the LATTE concept will be refined through the Lab’s incubation process, strengthening its design and partnerships to support capital mobilisation at scale.

“Developing investable financing solutions for climate adaptation is critical, particularly in sectors such as coffee, where capital needs far exceed existing instruments. The Lab provides a unique opportunity to develop and test structures that respond to real market demand. By taking a systemic perspective on coffee resilience, LATTE seeks to align incentives across farmers, financial institutions and global buyers to unlock finance at scale.”

About the Lab

Each year, the Lab, a public-private initiative, identifies, develops, and launches innovative financial vehicles that can drive billions of dollars in private investment toward climate action and sustainable development. It brings together over 100 institutions from government, development finance, philanthropy, and the private sector to incubate promising ideas.

Bloomberg Philanthropies, the United Nations Development Programme, and the governments of Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom fund the Lab’s 2026 programs. Climate Policy Initiative serves as the Secretariat and analytical provider.
