New evaluation results from the Colombia Living Income Program
Implemented between 2022 and 2025, IDH's Colombia Living Income Program worked with more than 17,000 coffee-farming households across Colombia to strengthen resilience and progress toward living income.
Raising incomes through a holistic approach to farmer resilience
The endline evaluation found that net household income increased by about 33%, while the share of households reaching or exceeding the living income benchmark grew from 30% to 42%. The evaluation found that the strongest results were achieved where multiple income drivers improved simultaneously, including productivity, cost reduction, diversification, market access, and access to services. The program contributed to widespread adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, improvements in productivity, especially among the most vulnerable farmer groups, and strong gains in income diversification, particularly among women and smaller-scale producers. While favourable coffee market conditions supported income growth during the period, the findings show that lasting progress toward living income requires a holistic approach that addresses multiple constraints at the same time.
