Decade of convening landscape initiatives: Convening a sustainable palm oil landscape

Aceh’s forests, covering 60% of the region, are home to some of the world’s most iconic species, including tigers, orangutans, elephants, and rhinos. At the same time, the region is a key source of global commodities such as palm oil, cocoa, and coffee. Deforestation from agricultural expansion threatens both biodiversity and the livelihoods of smallholder farmers, who manage more than half of Aceh’s palm oil areas.

Read the case study about how companies, local government, and civil society organisations can work together to protect forests in palm oil producing regions.

In the coming period, IDH will share insights and case studies from 10 years of convening landscape initiatives.
