Big steps towards improved nutrition for cocoa farming families
On this World Food Day, 16 October, four cocoa companies (Cargill, Ecom, Olam, Touton) joined by IDH, the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and CARE initiated the signing of a Statement of Support to scale up an integrated approach to food security and nutrition within the cocoa value chain. Their efforts to improve food security and nutrition will contribute to resilience and living income in smallholder cocoa farming communities. The statement of support is expected to be signed by the respective Health ministries in Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire as well as by the wider cocoa industry.
The statement of support was signed as part of the Cocoa Nutrition Initiative set up by IDH and GAIN in 2017 to integrate effective methods of improved nutrition for cocoa farming families into standard business practice. To learn more about the Cocoa Nutrition Initiative click here.
