SDM Case Report: Compagnie Fruitière Daboya (CFD), Guinea

The Guinean company Compagnie Fruitière Daboya (CFD) buys, processes and sells mangos in Guinea. The company considered diversifying into pineapples, and this SDM supported the management in deciding whether or not that would be a worthwhile investment. Three sourcing channels were explored: sourcing from the company-managed part of the company-owned farm, sourcing from local farmers who lease land of the company-owned farm and sourcing from smallholder pineapple farmers in the region. A lack of government investment in the Guinean pineapple sector, and the results of the SDM study informed CFD’s decision not to diversify into pineapples
