Convening UK stakeholders to drive resilient and sustainable agricultural systems
Climate change mitigation and adaptation, deforestation, sustainable land use, and inequality are global issues that go beyond the reach of single companies and governments. Our IDH UK office brings together public and private actors to address these challenges and realise the country's social and environmental sustainability ambitions.
Since 2019, our UK team has been forging strong relationships with UK companies, as well as with government actors, and financial institutions. We have grown to become a trusted convenor, known for our expertise in creating sustainable agricultural systems that mitigate deforestation and environmental degradation, while supporting job creation and improved livelihoods.
Our convening work on the topic of living wages has led to a formalised commitment of nine UK retailers to close the living wage gap within their banana supply chains by the end of 2027. Furthermore, we are collaborating with UK institutions and the private sector to prevent deforestation and increase access to finance for sustainable land use.
