IDH believes that stakeholders need to change their own behaviour (e.g., business practices) at various levels, i.e., national, landscape and sector. IDH developed the Living Income Roadmap, incorporating practical tools through a procurement lens. We bring partners together under this Roadmap to drive collaborative action. With the upcoming CSDDD legislation, IDH aims to further build on our tools ecosystem to support companies in the development of policies on living income and living wage in order to manage their human rights and hence food security risks.
Asia has always been an important region for IDH, with its high agricultural productivity, fertile soils, biodiverse forests, valuable timber species, and abundant marine resources. Since the opening of our first country office in Vietnam in 2012, IDH has expanded our presence in Asia with offices in India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam as well as programs in other neighboring countries.
In the palm oil sector, IDH works on sustainable production in both Indonesia and Malaysia. In India, our program focuses on creating demand for trade in sustainable palm oil based on responsible sourcing principles. Across the region, we convene global palm oil actors towards the sustainable production of palm oil, while improving market access and living income for smallholder farmers.
