Promoting inclusive and resilient smallholder farming
Agriculture is a crucial part of Tanzania's economy, employing almost 75% of the population. But smallholder farmers are faced with considerable challenges including inconsistent yields and low prices. The IDH Tanzania office brings its convening and technical knowledge to the table to increase smallholder farmer resilience.
With our strong network of local NGOs , government authorities, cooperative unions and SMEs our team is well-equipped to increase the livelihoods of Tanzanian smallholder farmers. Having extensive monitoring and evaluation expertise, we are also a leader in Service Delivery Model (SDM) analyses, generating strong insights and learnings.
Through our ambitious Agricon Boresha Chai program - funded by the European Union - we work on fostering sustainable livelihoods, nutrition, and gender equality among tea farming families in Southern Tanzania. In this program, we bring together our team’s expertise, facilitating training, quality-based payments and innovations in technology.
Our extensive local network combined with our strong technical expertise makes us the ideal partner to implement locally embedded approaches to improving smallholder farmers’ livelihoods.
