Terms of Reference: Farmer Survey Data Collection
IDH is excited to announce an opportunity to collaborate on advancing smallholder-inclusive markets across Africa. We are inviting proposals from qualified service providers to support our mission through farmer survey data collection, focusing on sustainable agricultural practices, resilience, and inclusivity.
The selected service provider will conduct semi-standardized data collection in Ethiopia, Tanzania, and other African countries, with a focus on key regions and value chains including maize, soybean, sunflower, and rice. This initiative will contribute to IDH’s broader goals of fostering inclusive, climate-resilient food systems and empowering smallholder farmers with actionable insights.
About the AssignmentThe consultancy will focus on two main pillars:
- Data Collection and Delivery: Collect and deliver clean, anonymized data sets using IDH’s methodology, ensuring representation of diverse smallholder farmers, regions, and value chains.
- Methodological Advisory: Provide guidance to refine data collection tools and align them with best practices for emerging indicators such as regenerative agriculture.
Key Deliverables Include:
- Survey design and contextualization for selected regions.
- A clean and anonymyzed dataset.
- A concise data delivery report summarizing critical observations.
- Workshop to share insights from the data and the process.
Timeline:The assignment will commence in February 2025, with initial deliverables expected by Q2 2025.
